Thousands of Republicans made their way home to cities across Texas after the state GOP convention wrapped up Saturday.

Whether they came to witness state politics firsthand or have a say in the party?s conservative values, the thousands of Texas delegates who spent the past three days in Fort Worth all moved a little closer to what they want.

The 2012 Republican Party of Texas State Convention centered on the upcoming election in which they will work to unseat incumbent President Barack Obama.

"You always hear that this is the most important election of our time,? Texas State Comptroller said. ?This time it's true."

All of the speakers who addressed the delegation focused on President Obama's record. One offered an insider's perspective on the Republican nominee.

"I don't generally that the Tea Party is anti-Romney,? former candidate Rick Santorum. ?I think there are clearly elements of folks that have concerns about Governor Romney."

The two Republicans left vying to fight for Texas in the U.S. Senate had the chance to offer a last plea to voters.

?Send me to Washington and I will help turn Congress upside down," Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst said.

"If conservatives come together, we will win this race," candidate Ted Cruz said.

As the convention came to a close, many Texas conservatives left knowing they'll need to come together if they want their party to win in November.
